My father past away a few months ago and he had a few domains with 1&1 and I’ve filled out the papers that they have for these circumstances but they have not got a hold of me back, I’ve called them and they tell me to wait for them. But its been a more than a month. Does anyone know what I else I can do??

   Martha, are you familiar enough with domains to know what the Whois is? http://who.is I would check your father’s domains to make sure there weren’t any in risk of expiring, just so you have a sense of how urgent the situation is. If I can be of any help drop me a line.

   First, understand that 1&1 does not generally have a reputation for easy transfers out of their system. Take John’s advise and make sure all the domains renewals are not near expiration especially if you intend to keep the domains. Then be very aggressive with 1&1 making sure you follow up on a weekly basis. I have personally had such dealings with them long ago and my brother has just recently, after a long road gotten the last of his domains out from under their thumb. Good luck and keep pushing!
